Jaminaround vs Beauty & the Beat – 2024 edition

“Something’s about to come your way
Extend your arms embrace the love
(…)
Breathe the winds of space and time
Let your senses take control
Listen to the rhythm of the cosmic dance
Glance far away into the future
Let your mind run through the fields that fill your heart with joy
Meanwhile, let your soul inside touch the stars”

(from Kuniyuki’s sublime remix of Slam Mode’s ‘Pacifica’)

The 2024 edition of BABB vs Jaminaround in the enchanted earth house of the Ancient Technology Centre in deep Dorset was, yet again, a truly life affirming session. Words unsurprisingly fail to convey such a transcendental and ineffable experience so please be kind with the below wide eyed musings (a slightly updated version of an IG post I did a few days after the party).

Since 2018 this has become our little piece of heaven, a place with the perfect mix of the most magical, awe inspiring setting with the most special people, cosmically united in the here and now through dance, music and sound.

Our very own TAZ (Temporary Autonomous Zone), where, for a fleeting moment, we can create utopia and reappropriate collective consciousness.

Total freedom of expression, movement and love.
Magical moments of childlike purity.
The pure joy of dancing and bonding while suspended in time and space.

A full range of cosmic elements were out in force, rain, wind, fire, earth (house), (glorious) moon, sunrise, all contributing to the overwhelming sensation of feeling a l i v e.

I m m e r s e d in sound via the incredible acoustics of the Iron Age earth house replica and its circular design; breathing m u s i c through each and every pore.

People dancing in circle around the 🔥, looking up to the sky.

Josh dropping ‘Voodoo Chile’ and the place erupting in acid rock heaven.

Every record taking a whole other dimension. ‘It’s Raining’, ‘Light My Fire’, ’Garden of Life’, ‘Iko Iko’, ‘Kamaiurá’, ‘Xica Da Silva’, ‘Spaceship: Earth’, ‘Starchild’, ‘Mimoso’, ‘To Be Felt’, ‘NZimbab’, ‘Sweet Lullaby’, ‘Summer Madness’, ‘Nha Manera’, ‘Angola’, ’Mango Walk, ‘La Pli Si Tol’, …

Thanks and praises and eternal love to Malou Coindreau for the majestic sound bath, Gonora Soundz for the infectious live performance, Josh Beauchamp for sharing the tunes (especially the the bijou b2b 🤩), to Jaminaround head honcho Oliver Keen, and last but not least to the amazing BATB family.

Listen back and reminisce on the links below.
